Why is my order not filled?
Last updated:
A limit order only fills when someone else is willing to trade at your price or better. If your buy price is below the lowest sell order, or your sell price is above the highest buy order, your order waits in the book.
Common reasons
- Your price is away from the market. A buy below the best ask, or a sell above the best bid, waits until the market moves to it.
- Not enough volume at your price. Your order may fill partly and wait for the rest.
- Other orders at the same price. Other orders at your price may be filled before yours.
- Your stop-limit has not triggered. The market has not traded at your stop price yet.
- Your stop-limit triggered, but the price moved past your limit. The limit order is now waiting in the book.
How do I check my order?
Open Open orders and look at the filled amount. Compare your price with the order book on the trading page: for a buy, look at the lowest ask; for a sell, the highest bid. See how to read the order book.
What can I do?
- Wait. The order stays open until it fills or you cancel it.
- Cancel it and place a new limit order closer to the market price.
- Cancel it and use a market order to trade now.
My market order was not filled
Market orders can only fill within the pair's slippage allowance from the market price. If there were not enough orders in that range, the unfilled part is returned to your balance and you get a notification.
Your funds for an open order are held as "in order" balance. Cancelling the order releases them.
Часто задаваемые вопросы
The price touched my limit price. Why didn't my order fill?
Other orders at the same price may have been filled before yours, or only a small amount traded at that price.
Will my open order expire?
No. A spot limit order stays open until it fills or you cancel it.
