How to change leverage on Xoibit futures
Last updated:
To change leverage, open the pair on the futures trading page, press the leverage button above the order form, pick a new value and confirm. The new leverage applies to your next orders on that pair and to your open position on it.
Step by step
- Open Futures and select the pair.
- Press the leverage button next to the margin mode, which opens Adjust Leverage.
- Move the slider or type the leverage. The window shows the maximum position you can hold at that leverage.
- Press Confirm.
What happens to my open position?
Leverage is set per pair, and the new value is also applied to your open position on that pair. That changes how much margin the position needs, so your available balance and liquidation price can change.
Why was my leverage change rejected?
- Above the pair's maximum. You cannot go above the maximum leverage of the pair, and larger positions have a lower maximum. Check the tiers on Trading rules.
- Not enough margin (Cross mode). Lowering leverage on an open cross position needs more margin. If that would leave you with no available balance, the change is rejected with "insufficient margin balance".
- Raising leverage on an isolated position. With an open position in Isolated mode, you cannot increase its leverage. Close the position first, or add margin instead if you want to lower the risk.
- Below 1x. The lowest leverage is 1x.
Raising leverage frees margin but moves your liquidation price closer to the current price. Check the new liquidation price in the Positions tab after the change.
Does leverage change for all pairs?
No. Each pair keeps its own leverage and its own margin mode. Changing BTC leverage does not change ETH leverage.
常问问题
Can I change leverage while I have an open position?
Yes, with limits: in Cross mode you need enough available balance, and in Isolated mode you cannot increase it.
Why did my maximum leverage drop?
Maximum leverage depends on position size by tier. A bigger position falls into a tier with lower maximum leverage.
